Aerospace Engineering Graduate Program Ranked No. 8 in U.S.

Over 100 students are currently enrolled in the aerospace engineering graduate program at UT-Austin. The department’s affiliated research centers provide opportunities for graduate students to work closely with our world-renowned faculty to solve important technological and scientific problems related to aviation, space technology, robotics, energy, the environment, and biomechanics.

The Cockrell School of Engineering also held its position in the top 10 graduate program rankings as the No. 10 best graduate program overall. In addition to the aerospace program, the school’s chemical, civil, computer, electrical and environmental engineering programs all ranked in the top 10, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings released today.

Last year, in addition to being ranked the No. 8 aerospace engineering graduate program, the department’s undergraduate program was ranked No. 9, making both programs ranked among the top 10 in the nation. The Cockrell School was also ranked the No. 5 best engineering program in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Universities, and the No. 8 best engineering school in the world by Professional Engineering magazine.

U.S. News & World Report’s engineering graduate program rankings are based on student acceptance rates, faculty/student ratios, research expenditures, reputation among engineers in industry and academia, the number of doctorate degrees produced, the percentage of faculty elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering, and entrance exam scores.
