Professional-Track Positions
The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for professional-track full- or part-time positions to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Positions are contingent on instructional needs. Appointments are typically made on a semester basis, although longer-term appointments may be available. Professional-track appointments are non-tenure track and are renewable annually.
The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a Professional-Track Faculty position in Computational Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and coordinate undergraduate senior design courses within the Computational Engineering program, including project-based courses that integrate computational methods, engineering analysis, modeling and simulation, software development, data science, and multidisciplinary design. Responsibilities include teaching and coordinating the Computational Engineering Senior Design sequence; mentoring student teams through the formulation, design, implementation, and evaluation of computational engineering solutions; facilitating industry-sponsored and faculty-sponsored projects; and assessing student achievement of program learning outcomes and engineering design competencies.
Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and the ability to guide students through the engineering design process from project conception to final implementation. Relevant academic, industry, or government experience in computational engineering, scientific computing, modeling and simulation, machine learning, data analytics, software engineering, or related fields is desirable.
Appointments may be made at the rank of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor of Practice, Associate Professor of Practice, or Professor of Practice, depending on qualifications and experience. The position may be full-time or part-time, contingent upon departmental needs, the candidate’s ability to teach other courses within the department, and funding availability.

Research Statement: Describe your research contributions to date and your plans for your first five years as an assistant professor. An effective research statement will highlight your individual contributions and describe past and potential future collaborations with others. Please also highlight the impact of your research and describe any potential applications that benefit society. Optional: Representative publications, preprints, or documentation of other scholarly accomplishments can be attached at the end of the research statement.
Teaching and Mentoring Statement: Describe your teaching and mentoring experiences to date, your teaching philosophy, and your plans for teaching. Please identify undergraduate and/or graduate courses that you could teach as an assistant professor, indicating for each your experience with the material and your interest and approach to teaching it.
An effective teaching and mentoring statement will describe your pedagogical approach in the classroom and convey how your prior experiences shape your teaching plans. It should also include your approach to mentoring students in research, with particular attention paid to how you will support the success of each individual student and your commitment to supporting their professional development, educational growth, and the ethical conduct of research and scholarship.
