David S. Dolling has been named Dean of George Washington University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He will assume his post on September 1, 2008. He joined our faculty as an Assistant Professor in September 1983 and served our department as Interim Chairman from Sept 1994 through Nov 1995 and then as Chairman from Dec 1995 through August 2003. Dr. Dolling served the Cockrell School of Engineering as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from January 2004 until August 2008.
Our colleague has had an outstanding career in research and is internationally renowned in his field. He has been active in numerous professional societies, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He was named a Fellow of both the Royal Aeronautical Society and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He currently holds the Joe C. Walter Chair in Engineering.
