A paper co-authored by Thomas 'JR' Hughes, aerospace engineering professor at The University of Texas at Austin, has received Elsevier Journal’s “Most Cited Author 2005-2008” award. The paper, titled "Isogeometric analysis: CAD, finite elements, NURBS, exact geometry and mesh refinement" was published in the Elsevier Journal, Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, Volume 194, Issue 39-41 (2005), Pages 4135-4195. The other co-authors include J. A. Cottrell and Y. Bazilevs.
Hughes holds the Computational and Applied Mathematics Chair III in the university’s Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES).
