Professor Thomas J.R. Hughes, a longtime leader in the field of finite elements, has been selected to receive an honorary degree from Northwestern University. The award will be presented at Northwestern's 152nd annual commencement exercises Friday, June 18.
Professor Hughes is an internationally known expert in computational engineering and sciences and is the author of the standard reference work "The Finite Element Method." He holds the Computational and Applied Mathematics Chair III and is affiliated with the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences.
