The Longhorn Network takes a look at the history of The University of Texas at Austin's Aerospace Engineering program. Professors Byron Tapley, Wallace Fowler and Glenn Lightsey discuss how our program has evolved over the years to become one of the most renowned in the world and how it feels to know that a team of our former students were so instrumental in carrying out the recent Mars Curiosity Mission.
Read the Alcalde's story, "Longhorns on Mars" to learn how former ASE students Tom Rivillini, Mike Watkins and Dan Johnston were involved with the mission and what projects NASA-JPL has in store for them in the future. You can also read more about how alumnus Ravi Prakash and new faculty member Behcet Akimese were involved with Curiosity's landing.
