The aerospace engineering undergraduate program in the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin has been ranked No. 8 in the nation according to the U.S. News and World Report’s 2019 rankings released Sept. 10, affirming the department’s position as one of the top of its kind nationwide.
Students in the aerospace engineering undergraduate program are offered opportunities to participate in a wide variety of hands-on student projectswhich they can become part of as early as their first year; undergraduate research opportunities with our world-renowned faculty are also available to students.
In other notable rankings, the Cockrell School of Engineering rose two spots to No. 9 for its overall school-wide program. Several of the school’s specialty programs are also ranked in the top 10.
The University of Texas at Austin rose seven spots to No. 49 in this year’s ranking of national universities. Among public universities, UT rose three spots to No. 15 and remains the top-ranked public university in Texas and the region.
“These rankings show that UT’s strategic focus on students graduating on time in our high-quality degree programs is working and is gaining momentum,” said President Gregory L. Fenves. “By striving to improve student success, especially engagement of first-year students, and recruiting and retaining the best faculty, UT is creating a stronger academic experience for all students. As graduation rates have increased, we are able to admit a thousand more first-year students than UT was admitting six years ago, providing greater access for students of all backgrounds.”
In U.S. News and World Report’s 2019 graduate program rankings released this past spring, the aerospace engineering graduate program was ranked the No. 8 graduate program in aerospace engineering. The Cockrell School was again named the No. 10 best graduate program in engineering and No. 6 among public universities, with eight degree programs ranking in the top 10.
