Mary F. Wheeler, Professor of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics and Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering Ernest and Virginia Cockrell Chair in Engineering, has been selected to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Universiteit Eindhoven. The presentation of the decorations that will accompany the conferral of the honorary degree will take place during a public session of the Doctorate Board in April 2006.
Dr. Wheeler's expertise is in the numerical solution of coupled partial differential equations. Her research areas include modeling reactive and multiphase flows and parallel computations. She joined the Cockrell School of Engineering faculty in 1995 and has published more than 160 technical articles and reports. Dr. Wheeler is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the recipient of the 1997 Women in Aerospace Outstanding Aerospace Educator Award.
Dr. Wheeler is affiliated with the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences.
