Dr. Mary Wheeler has been selected to receive the SIAM Theodore von Karman Prize for her seminal research in numerical methods for partial differential equations, leadership in the field of scientific computation and service to the scientific community, and pioneering work in the application of computational methods to the engineering sciences, most notably in the geosciences. Wheeler will also receive the SIAM SIAG/GS Career Prize which recognizes her achievements in geosciences as judged by her closest peers. She holds the Ernest and Virginia Cockrell Chair in Engineering.
