Sharing Your News and Research
Awards and Recent Grants
Email the ASE/EM Communications Coordinator, Stephanie Berry, about honors, awards and research grants for possible promotion on the department’s channels. Include any documentation you may have about the award or grant.
New Publications
Sharing news about your new publications increases awareness for your work while also promoting research activities in the department and Cockrell School.
- If you have an upcoming journal publication that you would like to pitch to the Cockrell School and/or media for a possible story, email Nat Levy (nat.levy@utexas.edu) and copy the department communications coordinator.
NOTE: Cockrell needs as much advance notice as possible (2-3 months minimum) for these so they can be posted when the publication comes out, so please keep this in mind when making the request. - LinkedIn and/or X (formerly Twitter) are also excellent and relatively quick options for sharing your new publications. Please tag ASE/EM and Cockrell accounts for amplification. You have the option to tag your collaborators as well. The more you tag, the more opportunities you’ll have for additional amplification.
Examples:
In the Media
Notify the department communications coordinator when you are going to be interviewed by the media. Share links to stories, podcasts, news, interviews, etc., from these outlets for an opportunity to be featured on our ASE/EM Press Coverage, the Cockrell School Press Coverage and/or on social media channels.
Social Media
Faculty are encouraged to share news on their social media channels and to tag ASE/EM and Cockrell accounts in their posts for possible amplification.
- LinkedIn
LinkedIn is the fastest-growing ASE/EM social media channel. This channel targets peer faculty/universities, prospective students, industry and government.

Photos/Videos
Good visuals, including eye-catching still images and interesting short videos that feature your research, perform very well on our social media channels, especially on LinkedIn and Instagram.
