Flyers and Research Posters
Flyers
The ASE/EM department recommends hanging flyers/posters in certain locations within the ASE building, depending on your target audience. No taping of flyers or posters on the walls will be permitted.
Suggested areas for targeting the entire ASE/EM community include exterior elevator walls on floors 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the ASE Building. No taping of flyers or posters on the walls will be permitted.
Suggested content includes weekly seminar flyers, special speaker announcements, ASE/EM events or other college events.
Suggested areas for posting flyers targeting undergraduate students include the advising waiting area and the undergraduate student conference room. No taping of flyers or posters on the walls will be permitted.
Suggested content includes student organization announcements, scholarships, internships and employment opportunities, as well as any other undergraduate-related information.
Suggested areas for posting flyers targeting graduate students include the graduate student offices on Floors 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the ASE building. No taping of flyers or posters on the walls will be permitted.
Suggested content includes scholarship/fellowship opportunities, graduate internships, employment opportunities and other graduate student-related information.
Research Posters
There are designated areas for posting research posters or flyers in the interior of each faculty suite on Floors 3, 4 and 5. Please do not tape posters to the walls.
Poster Design Guidelines
These guidelines have been developed specifically for students who are creating research posters for department events, such as the External Advisory Committee meeting.
Please be sure to follow the Cockrell School’s brand guidelines, including suggested fonts, UT color palette and the official ASE/EM identities.
Your poster should be created at 27” x 39” in portrait layout.
It is especially important to adhere to the size specifications for uniformity and consistency if you are developing this poster for the department-hosted graduate recruiting event.
Print-ready PDF (export to highest resolution available).
White is recommended for the background. Be sure to include a margin/border of at least 1″ on all sides of your poster.
Use the highest resolution possible for all images. 300 dpi is preferred, or eps/vector images work well too, since they are scalable.
The Cockrell School of Engineering follows The University of Texas at Austin’s font recommendations.
Benton Sans/Benton Sans Condensed is the preferred primary font. GT Sectra is a secondary font. Both typefaces are available worldwide in PC and Apple formats. Arial is also acceptable for posters.
Posters can have a variety of colors. For suggestions on colors to use in sidebars, charts, graphs, etc., the Cockrell School has a list of approved colors to complement University branding in the Cockrell School Visual Brand Standards Guide.
For posters, you may use the ASE/EM Department, Cockrell School or UT Austin wordmarks. Do NOT use the UT seal or Bevo.
The UT Austin wordmarks are available online. Please note, these wordmarks have been specially drawn and spaced and must never be redrawn or changed. Remember to use CMYK versions for files that will be printed, and RGB versions for files that will be used digitally. ASE/EM wordmarks are also available online.
**Do NOT use the Longhorn Silhouette or University/UT System seals on research posters. Their use is not approved for research posters. Use of the Longhorn Silhouette or UT Austin Seal MUST be approved by the Office of Trademarks and Licensing.**
