Undergraduate Advising
The undergraduate advising team is ready to help current and prospective aerospace engineering and computational engineering students navigate their way through the degree plan and university life.
Available by scheduling an appointment, we are here to listen, answer questions, and provide resources to support each student as a person as well as a future engineer. For general advising questions, send an email to ase.advising@utexas.edu.
Advising is by appointment only and should be scheduled via Navigate. Please see the schedules below for our advising team before requesting an appointment.
New Students
New incoming students are provided instructions for attending registration advising during new student orientation. Please register for UT Orientation after accepting your offer of admission. All undergraduate students majoring in aerospace engineering or computational engineering are required to have a laptop that is compliant. Download new student resources, including Gone to ASE/COE presentations.
Current Students
Academic advising is not required unless a student is on scholastic probation or they are enrolled in ASE 320, when a mid-degree check is conducted. During registration periods—typically in April and October—we communicate advising procedures to students by email.
Curriculum and Technical Electives
Download undergraduate degree plans, flow charts, and current lists of approved technical electives for both aerospace engineering and computational engineering majors.
Undergraduate students in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics have the opportunity to earn credit for directed work on an organized student project in aerospace engineering or engineering mechanics.
This credit is offered on a pass/fail basis only, and a registered student must log at least 45 hours of credit over the course of the semester and submit a one-page summary of their involvement in order to earn credit. To register, a student must have at least fifteen hours of college credit completed and a University and technical grade point average of at least 2.50.
Register for ASE 128 Credit
Students must complete this registration form by the eighth class day of the fall or spring semester or the second class day of the summer semester.
Summer Internship Option
Download an information packet for the ASE 128 summer internship credit.
Tutoring
Both free tutoring and paid private tutoring are available on campus. Free Engineering options are available as well as free group or paid private options at the Sanger Learning and Career Center.
